Paige's class created beautiful decorations for their children's garden. We strung popcorn and fruit loops, scooped out oranges for birdseed, made paper chains and crafted gorgeous stick stars with yarn. The kids seemed to really enjoy themselves and before I knew it, paper chains were strewn from one end of the class to the other.
We took this class picture to recreate the picture from this book.
Later that afternoon, Anna's class presented all of their learning to the school at Gathering. She did an awesome job talking about her Explorer Project on Daniel Boone. I was proud of her because she stuck it out even though she's been sniffly and had a soar throat.
Right after Gathering, the entire school lined up for Passing of the Cans. They have been collecting canned goods to collaborate with a local high school doing a large Christmas drive. At the end of the collection, all the cans are passed from the back of the school to the front of the school in two long lines of students. We play festive music and enjoy the spirit of giving followed by hand washing and sanitizing. :)
My hope is we can rest and regroup this weekend with everybody feeling 100% for our last week of school before Christmas break!
I love the passing of the can tradition! Sorry y'all have been sick...that happened to us last year and it was a bummer! Hopefully everyone will be on the mend soon xo
