Paige,
What a wonderful year you've had! It has been an amazing time of growing personally, learning and trying new things. Each step you have amazed me with your bravery and perseverance even when it wasn't something you enjoyed. You participated in your first ever organized sport, softball and improved each game. You've just begun taking piano lessons and you moved out of the sweet land of K/1 to the big kid vestibule at school. And one of your most favorite adventures was bringing home the class pet because you LOVE all animals!
Perhaps my favorite part of your 7 year old year was your prayer to Jesus to be saved, your public profession of faith and your baptism. Watching the Holy Spirit reveal Himself to you over these past couple of years has been an absolute joy and privilege. Your Dad and I have prayed for you since you were just a blip on the screen in my tummy. To see you take these next steps forward in your faith journey brings me ultimate peace and joy. We will always support you, pray for you and help you grow in your faith as you begin to unwrap the beautiful gift of Jesus.
I've also loved watching you thrive at school. You have made tremendous progress in your reading as your endurance, speed and difficulty in text have increased. And of course, there's writing. Ohh Paige, your teachers comment all the time on what a prolific writer you are! You have so many stories and details to share that I can't help smile when you bring home a new piece to read. I'm also a little smitten with your dedications to me, but don't tell anybody else. ;) At school, you are responsible and a good friend. You often help lead others in discussions and love to share news stories. But most of all, you are you in your home away from home. Your teachers and friends all love and respect the creative, dramatic and bubbly girl you are as you interact in your world.
At home we continue to navigate those big emotions, balancing between understanding that it's OK to "feel all the feels" and having self control. It's a hard line to thread and we are all learning with you. Thank you for your patience and trust as you open up your heart. I know one day God will use your emotional side to love and care for His people and world. In the mean time, you practice with your Big Sister, arguably your best friend. You two are close, love to play games together and even though you occasionally fight, love each other fiercely.
Paige, you are a joy and you bring so much life into our home. As Anna said the other day, "When Paige isn't here, it's so quiet and boring." Your vibrant, snuggling, laughing until you can't breath self spreads creativity and even a bit of crazy wherever you go. You are as unique as the freckles on your face! We thank God for you. Shine bright for Jesus, be kind and choose joy, my love. Happy 8th birthday!
Love,
Mom
